CROP DIVERSIFICATION PROJECT

Crop Diversification Project has been conducting from the assistance of HMG/N and Asian Development Bank's loan. The period of the project will start from July, 2001 to December 2006. This project has covered two districts, Dailekh and Surkhet from Midwestern Development Region, 2 districts, Baitadi and Dadeldhura from Far Western Development Region in the first year. Likewise, from the second year, it has covered 3 more districts, Dang, Banke and Bardiya from Mid Western Development Region and 5 more districts, Doti, Achham, Darchula, Kailali and Kanchanpur from Far Western Development Region. The total cost of the project is estimated at $14.042 million, $3.042 million contributed by HMG/N and $11 million loaned by Asian Development Bank. Coordinator Office of t his project is located in Harihar Bhawan, Lalitpur and project implementation units at Khajura and Nepalgunj for Mid Western Region and at Dadeldhura for Far Western Region.

 Objectives

Major objective of this project is to increase secondary crop production and productivity and focus on the management of marketing the production. Followings are the main objectives of the project:

  1. Increase farmer's income
  2. Poverty reduction of the farmers involved with the project
